Senior Ship's Mechanic

Senior Ship Mechanic or Ship Repair Manager

2    Purpose of the function

Navitec is a leading ship repair company specialized in fast response interventions on a 24/7 basis operating in the ARA region. In light of the growth of the company and its activities we like to expand our workforce with experienced ships mechanics.

3    Job description

  • To be responsible for the quality, consistency and safe execution of works executed,
  • To repair, overhaul and /or assist maker’s representatives of all type of engines, valves etc… on vessels,
  • Assist with the mounting, demounting, rigging-in or rigging-out of mechanical ship parts,
  • Execute works on vessels as well as in our workshop facilities,
  • To manage and supervise a mechanics team,
  • To report to client’s representatives or client’s superintendent,
  • To act on board as part of the service team during visits/repairs on board of vessels.

4    Qualifications and experience

  • A minimum of five years relevant work experience as a ships mechanics,
  • Maritime Qualification or equal through experience,
  • Sea-going experience is a considerable mark-up.

5    Competencies and skills

  • Able to speak Dutch and English,
  • Able to work independent,

Ship's Electrician

2    Purpose of the function

Navitec is a leading ship repair company specialized in fast response interventions on a 24/7 basis operating in the ARA region.
Our vacancy of a senior ships electrician is in connection to an imminent retirement of our
Senior Ship’s Electrician.

3    Job description

  • To act on board as part of the service team during visits/repairs on board of vessels.
  • The preferred candidate has ample experience in analyzing electrical troubles and breakdowns on board of sea-going ships electrical systems. Trouble shooting, reporting and formulating solutions to our client is your natural habitat. You are able to analyze electrical problems as well with electrical schemes as without an electrical scheme. Also repairing small mechanical problems is your second nature,
  • Flexibility in working hours will be required as our clients their vessels always have a tight schedule in port and waiting times must be minimized as much as possible,
  • The preferred candidate is able to advise clients representatives, vessels superintendent as well as vessels crew in a professional manner. This as well as verbal as in writing.

4    Qualifications and experience

  • You have successfully completed an education in electricity and are familiar with low as
    well as high voltage. Additional education in electronics is a pro,
  • A minimum of 5 year relevant experience,
  • Being familiar with vessels electricity is a pro,
  • As many of our jobs are in ports such as Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Ghent, Rotterdam and
    Dunkerque, a driving license is basic requirement.

  • You have a strong safety mindset and you are able to asses risks as well as taking
    required safety precautions for your personal safety as for other persons involved,
  • Good knowledge of English is a must,
  • You must be able to work in a team as well as autonomous,

Senior Pipe Fitter

2      Purpose of the function

Navitec Marine Services is a leading ship repair company specialized on fast 24/7 interventions. We perform afloat ship repairs mainly in Belgian ports but we can also be found on regular basis in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Dunkirk and even Hamburg.
Through swift interventions, high quality repairs and creative solutions we assure customers keep contacting Navitec for repairs on sea-going vessels.

One of our frequent challenges is the repair and maintenance of pipes and flanges. Both disassembly and assembly on board as well as fabrication in our workshop happen on a daily basis.

If required you may also be deployed as an experienced welder.

The current job opening is in connection to an imminent retirement of one of our experienced pipe fitters.

3       Job description

  • The preferred candidate feels right at home between pipes and flanges. You are able to independently fabricate, repair and mount pipe work on various installations and on board of sea-going vessels,
  • You know how to handle mild and stainless steel, aluminum and other alloys,
  • Solving smaller mechanical issues comes naturally to you,
  • Flexibility in working hours will be required as our clients’ vessels always have a tight schedule in port and waiting times must be minimized as much as possible,
  • You are able to advise the client’s representatives, the vessel’s superintendent as well as the vessel’s crew in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.

4       Qualifications and experience

  • You have successfully completed an education in pipe fitting, any additional education in mechanics or welding are definitely a bonus,
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience,
  • Being familiar with the layouts and particulars of working on sea-going vessels play to your advantage,
  • As many of our jobs are in ports such as Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Ghent, Rotterdam and Dunkirk, a driving license is basic
